Thoughts on
Eldora Speedway
5/9/2009 - Rain ended a night of racing after qualifying on Friday night.  Jason
Sides had a great heat race staying ahead of Schatz and taking the win.  We really
wish they had had a chance to race because it would have been a fun one to
watch.  But..the rain came and we went home and hoped they could get the show
in on Saturday.

Saturday arrived windy but sunny and we headed to the track.  Like all
businesses, the tracks are competing for customers.  Eldora honored rain checks
from the night before even though they did get qualifying completed.  We certainly
didn't expect that but it was greatly appreciated.

They also held an open pit for an hour and a half during the afternoon.  And even
more importantly, the drivers made themselves very accessible during this time.
Lots of people got autographs and had a chance to interact with their favorite
drivers.

The wind died down and we saw some great racing.  Haud lost a tire at two
different times and still finished 13th.  Cale Conley, whom we saw for the first time
at KC Raceway last summer and was seeing Eldora for the first time this
weekend, ran a beautiful line and once again convinced us that this is a driver to
watch.  We thought we were going to see the King get another Eldora win when he
encountered mechanical difficulties and put Schatz in position to take the
checkers.

Thanks to the track and the drivers for putting on a great show.
